Compact reconstruction screw pumping stations

The German flood retention basin Breisach/Burkheim places high demands on water safety and level management in the adjacent residential area. During high water levels in the Rhine, the water backed up effected adjacent water bodeis, resulting in critically elevated groundwater levels.

Reconstruction of the pumping stations aimed to prevent potential flooding situations while ensuring safe and reliable operation of the basin. The challenge lay in the controlled discharge of large volumes of water under varying hydraulic conditions, within the limited space along the flood protection dike.

What we delivered

For this project, we transformed an outdated and complex pumping station design and transformed it into a compact and efficient pumping solution. Here, semi-compact Landustrie Archimedes screw pumps were chosen.

For the realisation of three new pumping stations, each equipped with four screw pumps, we performed the complete detailed engineering. The civil constructions were fully tailored to the dimensions of the screws and integrated with the existing transformer stations.

A total of 12 screw pumps were delivered and installed. The design focuses on safe operation, easy accessibility and long service life.
