For the largest WWTP in Latin America, Landustrie supplies 5 no. new Archimedes screw pumps. These LANDY screws are positioned in the inlet pumping station of WWTP La Farfana to handle some 6 to 7 hundred thousand m3 of wastewater per day.
Before the contract was awarded, the bidders had to comply with substantial tender conditions and requirements. In the end, not only the lowest price was decisive, but also quality aspects and references. Quality in particular was one of the main award criteria, since the existing screw pumps showed fractures, after only a few years of operation.
Landustrie uses the Finite Element Method for designing the LANDY screw pumps. With this program the load carrying capacity and behavior of the screw can be calculated and subsequently the most efficient screw design achieved.
All five screw pumps, measuring 3.7 meters diameter with a length of 21 meters, are delivered and assembled with drive units and control equipment. Landustrie is also responsible for the civil works. The new screw pumps will be operational in phases and the project will be completed by the end of 2022.
