Landustrie hydropower screw
Renewable energy from running water
The Landustrie auger has been used to pump water for decades. But this proven technology has received a sustainable upgrade. Thanks to innovative modifications, the same auger can now also be used as a generator - even at low decay rates.
When flowing water flows down through the auger, it sets the auger in motion. This rotational movement is converted into renewable green energy. A quiet, fish-friendly and reliable way to generate energy 24/7.
Features
The Landustrie hydropower screw works according to a tried and tested natural principle: flowing water sets the screw in motion. By positioning the screw pump at an oblique angle in the flow direction of a river, the water flows into the screw pump automatically. The combination of decay (potential energy) and flow (kinetic energy) causes the auger to rotate.
This rotary motion is transmitted via a gearbox to a generator, which generates electricity. The greater the decay or flow rate, the more energy is generated. The power generated can be used directly locally or fed back into the grid.
Thanks to its relatively low rotational speed (20-50 rpm), operation is quiet, fish-friendly and low maintenance. The system also operates at varying water levels or flow rates and maintains its efficiency even at only 20% of the design flow rate.
This makes the Landustrie auger a smart and robust solution for generating renewable energy at low head locations.
