Het hele systeem is stevig bevestigd op de kolom met ankerbouten. Deze draaiende beweging wordt via een tandwielkast overgebracht op een generator, die elektriciteit opwekt. Hoe groter het verval of het debiet, hoe meer energie er gegenereerd wordt. De LANDOX verplaatst het water door een gecontroleerde, langzaam roterende beweging (5–25 omwentelingen per minuut). Dit resulteert in een stabiele propstroom (plug flow) over de volledige diepte van de tank, zonder ongewenste snelheidsschommelingen. Hierdoor blijven luchtbellen optimaal verdeeld en wordt de zuurstofoverdracht maximaal benut. De voortstuwers worden strategisch geplaatst in de bochten van de beluchtingcircuit, waar de stromingsweerstand het hoogst is. Juist daar kan de voortstuwenergie het meest efficiënt worden ingezet.
