Hydropower

The existing Steinsau weir on the River Ill near Erstein (Alsace, France) is equipped with six LANDY hydropower weirs. The weir dates from the late 19th century and ensures that the downstream regions of Erstein and Strasbourg do not flood at high tide. Part of the restoration and renovation of the weir was the installation of screw turbines to generate renewable energy.

Two Landy hydropower jacks at the Romney weir, in the River Thames, generate power for both the royal palace and 400 local households. The jacks are 4 metres in diameter and 6 metres long. A unique feature of the jacks is their 5-passage design where normally a jack-up would have 2 or 3 passages. As the augers are fish-friendly, fish migration remains possible.

In the river Ill located near Colmar in Alsace, France, a hydropower plant has been realised with two Landy hydropower weirs. The existing weir has been completely renovated and will supply around 250 households with green electricity with the new 190kW plant.
