Jebel Ali Dubai

Scaling up WWTP in desert

In Jebel Ali district, located in the southern part of Dubai, the existing wastewater treatment plant has been significantly expanded. Daily capacity has been increased from 300,000 to a whopping 675,000 m³ of sewage per day. This upscaling was necessary due to the realisation of a new urban district for over 1 million inhabitants, the construction of the new airport and the organisation of the World Expo 2020.

What we delivered

For this project in Dubai, we supplied 48 Landustrie surface aerators of the Landy-7 type, including the corresponding drives and controls. All aerators were assembled on site under the supervision of our own assembly team.

The sewage treatment plant is located in an open desert area where summer temperatures can exceed 50 °C. To protect the drive units from this extreme heat, they are fitted with a specially designed sunshade.

Prior to delivery, the aerators were extensively tested in our own full-scale test tank in Sneek, in the presence of the customer. The focus here was on efficiency and oxygenation capacity.
