Jebel Ali WWTP (Dubai)

Landustrie Rwzi Jebel Ali Dubai 01 845x321

The sewage treatment plant in the Jebel Ali neighbourhood in Dubai's southern district has been scaled up and expanded. The amount of cubic metres of sewage treated per day has been increased from 300,000 to 675,000. The upscaling was necessary to serve the large-scale new development with 1 million inhabitants, the new airport and the World Expo 2020. For the expansion, we supplied 48 new LANDY-7 surface aerators with corresponding drives and controls. Assembly was carried out under Landustrie's supervision. The plant is located in open desert areas where temperatures rise to well over 50 degrees Celsius in the summer months. The drive units are therefore shielded with a solar cover. The LANDY high-efficiency aerators provide oxygen transfer in the aeration tanks, ensuring bacteriological cleaning of wastewater. In its own test tank at Sneek, these aerators were tested for oxygen input in the presence of the customer. The project was commissioned by the Joint Venture Besix - Larsen & Toubro, a Belgian and Indian organisation respectively.
