The new city district Oceanhamnen, part of the H+ project in Helsingborg (Sweden) uses a new innovative and sustainable wastewater treatment facility. Residences and office buildings are equipped with vacuum toilets and kitchen grinders. Black and grey wastewater is collected and treated separated at source.
For this new wastewater treatment plant Landustrie implemented the Desah concept, emphasizing the recovery of valuable raw materials such as fertilizer and biogas, as well as heat recovery. Landustrie obtained the order for the electromechanical equipment of the wastewater treatment plant from NCC Sweden.
The project now is operational and also functions as a showroom for education as well as test bed for technology development.
Desah’s new sanitation design already won the Swedish innovation prize in 2015 in the “Blackwater and Food Waste Challenge” in the category “Treatment plant”, aimed at the recycling of waste streams. The jury report stated: “DeSaH has developed a compact wastewater treatment plant, a concept that contributes to an increased recirculation of water, nutrients and energy.”
Now in 2022 this particular project has won the Global Water Award in the category Wastewater Project of the Year.
