Hydropower auger Sint-Michielsgestel assembled
Milestone for DEC Dommelstroom
On Tuesday, September 13, 2016, the Landy hydropower auger for Energiecoöperatie Dommelstroom arrived in Sint-Michielsgestel. Amid great public interest, the trough and auger were assembled on site at the existing weir.
The new hydropower plant is an initiative of Jan and Bram Taks and will generate renewable energy for about 200 households. Father and son Taks started the Sustainable Energy Cooperative Dommelstroom together and raised the necessary funds through crowdfunding.
The new hydropower plant has been designed so that there is no encroachment on the natural environment and passing fish are not affected by the auger. The design also takes into account the prevention of any noise pollution from the flowing water.
