Upgrade for historic weir
In the river Ill, off Erstein (Alsace, France), the existing Steinsau weir has been equipped with six Landustrie hydropower jacks. The weir, which dates back to the late 19th century, plays a crucial role at high water, protecting lower-lying areas such as Erstein and Strasbourg from flooding.
As part of the renovation, initiated by the ACAL (Alsace Champagne-Ardenne Lorraine) region, a sustainable solution was chosen: integrating pond turbines to generate green energy.
