Expansion of Gabal el Asfar WWTP
The Gabal el Asfar sewage treatment plant, located on the outskirts of Cairo, Egypt, is undergoing a major expansion. After completion of the entire project, the plant will have a capacity of 2.5 million m3 of water per day, making it the largest plant in Africa and the Middle East and the third largest in the world. Implementation will be carried out by a consortium consisting of companies from Spain, Germany and Egypt.
